Seattle and Mt. Rainer
September 2021
So after spending the day at Snoqualmie Falls and checking out some of the filming locations of Twin Peaks, we checked into the most radical AIRBNB nestled in the suburbs of Kent, WA.. Talk about one of a kind, this airbnb was so awesome! We had so much fun looking at all the 80’s toys and collectables, this is a place you can hang out at for the entire weekend. I love finding crazy fun Airbnbs like that, our experiences are always way more enjoyable than staying in a hotel. So, when we woke up in the morning, we planned on heading into Seattle to Pike Place Market (Seattle coffee??? Count me in!). I wanted to see the Fremont Troll, this is such a neat little spot to stop at before you head into the city. Below the Aurora Bridge in the Fremont neighborhood you will find the Fremont Troll and he has a very interesting story. People used to dump trash and all kinds of yucky stuff under the bridge, but when you have a giant troll watching you, you’re not going to piss him off! Now, he attracts those wishing to take their picture with him and he has been there since 1989, protecting his bridge. Be sure to check him out, he is a sight to see!
Pike Place Market
I have watched hundreds of YouTube videos and couldn’t WAIT to see Pike Place Market. You know you have to make a stop at the Gum Wall, there’s no way you can miss that. Even though the thought of going during Covid made me want to scream and rip my eyes out, I had to see it in person. It is so nasty and amazingly awesome, one giant art project made by thousands. I really wish that I had more time to spend in the actual city of Seattle, spending a couple hours there was a total tease! I feel like I could sit everyday and watch all the different lives intersecting and dancing around. It’s not often I find such an energy like that, it’s hard to explain, you have to go and just observe. I personally feel that in the PNW in general, a happy vibrating positive energy. Pike Place Market…no doubt lived up to my expectations. We grabbed a bite from Piroshky Piroshky Bakery , which is a very busy and popular spot. We then grabbed coffee at Indi Chocolate and sat down a little closer to the Elliot Bay to eat our precious Piroshky goods! I love when I go to a new place and I see a bird or an animal I’ve never seen before! We saw these cute little grey birds, they were adorable and hungry! When you’ve lived in the same place for 30 something years, seeing a new animal is magic. Pike Place Market definitely feels like its own living entity and is an absolute must see period.
Mt. Rainer
Well…as you might have already noticed, when we travel, we try to fit every single thing we possibly can into one trip. Our thought is always “Plan this trip like we’ll never get a chance to go again”. So after explored Pike Place Market, ate our breakfast and grabbed some coffee, we made our way out to hike Silver Falls. Misty rain, lush green moss and fresh air, did I mention that I love the PNW? This hike was really nice, we very much enjoyed it, you can take it at a slow pace and just soak in all the sights. You want to always make sure you have a rain coat and waterproof boots while hiking in the PNW. At least in the months we go, usually March-May or September-October. If I could just type MAGIC, MAGIC, MAGIC over and over with pictures, I feel like you would totally understand.
ALWAYS make sure to pick up any trash you might see and don’t litter!!! Keep these places beautiful!
In the next blog, we will be heading out from Seattle area to the North Cascades & Port Angeles!!! Be sure to check out the continuation of this amazing trip!
